Murphy's Law

Did you ever have an experience that the length of you go somewhere is longer than you go home?”.  Did you ever have an experience that an object that you are looking for is very difficult to find, but in fact it is hidden in front of you?”.  Or did you ever try to avoid a traffic jam, but you always get a traffic jam?
If your answer is YES, it means that you are the victim of Murphy’s Law.

What is Murhpy’s Law?
Explaining Murphy’s law is not as complicated as other scientific laws such as Kirchoff Law, Dopler’s Law, or Archimedes’ Law. This law does not need empirical prove to support it but the accuracy is no doubtful.  It tends to make us laugh or even we will laugh ourselves.  This law becomes easy to be explained since it just follows a very simple rule, it is “IF ANYTHING CAN GO WRONG, IT WILL”. The broad definition of this rule is people’s thought or assumption of a bad thing frequently happen when they want to try to avoid it. Many people calls this rule using another word, it is UNLUCKY LAW since many people feel getting unlucky when they become the victim of this rule.
The name of Murphy’s Law is derived by the inventor of this law, he is Edward Murphy. He was the US army that got a command to do  a research toward human ability in sudden decelerating when they get an accident.  He explains the concept of Murphy law into three points, they are:

  • If anything can go wrong, it will.
  • Everything will take longer time than a normal time.
  • There is no as simple as what we can see.
If you haven’t got a clear understanding of Murphy’s Law, let me explain you in simpler explanation. A very simple example to show the explanation of Murphy law is when you always say “Selalu Begini” or in Javanese “mesti e.....”  toward situation that often comes to you such as you always forget where you put your key when you want to start your motorcycle.
The following examples show that  Murphy's law frequently occurs in your live, they are:

  1. Your electronic device is broken. When you want to repair it to mechanic, suddenly it work
  2. You want to avoid traffic jam, but you get it.
  3. A key is always easy seen on the table. But you always forget where you put it when you need it.
  4. When you are hungry, there is no food. But when you are full, there is much food
  5. You feel it takes longer time when you go to certain place but it is shorter when you are going home.
  6. You bring a bunch of ten keys. You want to open a door. The key that you want to use is always on the tenth.
  7. The traffic light is always red when you are in hurry. But it is green, when you are not hurry
  8. It is always rain after you washing your motorcycle or car.
